Background – Peter Dodds and Digital Frontiers

Peter Dodds is responsible for the creation and management of software running some of Australia's top rating television programs including Deal or No Deal (Australia and New Zealand), The Rich List (Australia and New Zealand), The Mole, You May Be Right, Celebrity Spelling Bee, Living Longer, Its Academic, Go Go Stop (Australia, Belgium, Ireland), Midnight Zoo, The Contest, Australias Got Talent and Big Brother Up Late.

Digital Frontiers provides a range of services covering program development, electronic proof of concept, conceptualisation, project management and content creation for television, film, interactive television, stills, multimedia and the internet.

Five years ago Peter held the position of Executive Director Research and Development for DNA Enabled Pty Ltd, an online identity verification software company.

Peter Dodds is an Apple Strategic Developer, an elite group of innovators actively supported by Apple Australia and Apple US.

Peter has performed a number of key management and strategic roles in post production, television, multimedia and IT. Peter founded and managed Brilliant Interactive Ideas, the first Australian multimedia company to be floated on NASDAQ in 1996.

He has been involved with the development of interactive material since 1983 - first for laser disc, then CD-ROM and now the Internet, broadband and digital television. Over the past eighteen years, he has been involved in the development of leading edge multimedia and programming for training, kiosks, launches and the commercial and consumer markets.

Peter was one of the first developers of high quality multimedia and digital video in Australia. He is one of the few senior creative people with hands on coding experience - he is an accomplished Macromedia Director, Flash, Dreamweaver, Attain, Shockwave and Authorware developer.

He was the lead developer and contractor for the Act II 80 screen video wall that featured in the Australian Pavillion at Expo 2005 in Nagoya, Japan.

ABCTV trained, Peter Dodds has been a BBC contractor in North and South America. During the Falklands War in 1982, he was located in the BBC's Buenos Aires office. Dodds has produced world class documentaries including a series on the Russian invasion of Afghanistan filmed behind Russian and Mujaheddin lines in 1983.

Peter Dodds has been contracted Head of School for leading Australian Design College Billy Blue during the introduction of their design for new media curriculum. He has lectured locally and internationally, conducting master classes on behalf of Macromedia and Intel for photographers and graphic designers in Australia and India.

Peter regularly speaks at industry conferences and for many years he conducted the digital production video classes for the AFTRS Open program.

Peter has produced video productions and multimedia, created kiosks, supervised still photographic shoots and staged events for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and the Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games. He was responsible for creating the in-store Olympic coverage for David Jones, Australia's top retail chain.

He has written, directed and produced stills and digital video material and multimedia for legal suppliers Diskcovery, Horticulture Australia, dance troupe The Fiona Gage Dancers, the Westpac Bank, general insurer AMP, The Commonwealth Banking Group, Australia Post, AAV, Lindemans Wines, Television Shopping Network, retailer David Jones, employment consultants Michael Barrington and Associates, Sydney Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Jenny Morris Australian Tour, Greater Western Sydney Economic Development Board, Australian Property Monitors, AIDS/HIV researchers Narhex, computerised cytology developer NSI Papnet, manufacturer Broens Industries, Laing and Simmons, the Companion Group, research laboratory Alcon, food retailers Bushs and Franklins Supermarkets and Australia's largest services and building maintenance company, Spotless Services Limited. The company has also developed material for the Justice Research Center and the Sydney University Online Help Guide.

Peter wrote and edited "Unreal, Uncut, Unseen", the Big Brother DVD for the Southern Star Group. He conceived and wrote the game technology and SMS interface for the Big Brother Up Late Brainteaser game. Commercial consumer titles developed have included interactive talking books, edutainment titles and activity/learning titles designed to foster the creative skills of young learners.

Peter Dodds has researched and written the technical, functional and creative specifications for a number of leading web sites including the Television Shopping Network's eCommerce web site. Peter has been the creator and manager for a number of theatrical multimedia projects including the Collins Street Flight Simulator in Melbourne. Peter has recently developed a multi-platform delivery system and back channel for English company Opera Telcoms to be used simultaneous delivery of content by terrestrial and cable digital television, broadband and mobile TV.

In addition to ongoing commitments to ongoign television series, Dodds is developing two new animated series - "The Adventures of BOXBOY" and "Meet Three Veg".
